The way in which you are working at the moment is, I feel, exceptional; the ordinary pressure under which teachers thrive has been ramped up for a while now, and will continue to be until external scrutiny is done and dusted for another three years. Your work rate, creativity and attitudes are wonders to behold, and do not go unnoticed by the powers that be. Keep going. Hopefully, you spotted the results of our meeting in everyone's pigeon holes on Friday - testament to your ideas and knowledge.

At the risk of sounding like I'm imitating the school's Keiser leader (that was a cheap attempt to link in my favourite alt-media figure - he's sent me tweets, don't you know!) we need to get the simple things right. Marking. Targets. Positive classrooms. Rewards and praise. I'm sure this is the case, but we should be now making sure that we are so consistent and teaching at such a high level that all of the elements are in place when Gove's drones finally arrive. Use this well; many of the elements they're looking for do create good and outstanding teaching, and, more importantly, learning outcomes.

And that's the point. I know I say this every week, but the reason we do this is the end result, whether it's at half ten on a Monday, in August 2012 or ten years later. It's the illumination of minds; minds that ask if Wordsworth was his real name, because it's a bit of a coincidence, isn't it, and why are they all called William?

Hopefully, this is the week that will be, and we can really focus, without distraction, on the business we love. We're ready - whenever it happens.
