Our priorities remain the same, because they are right. Engaging lessons, effective differentiation, accurate and regular assessment, a team ethos and patience. We need patience to keep building, keep adding to the successes we have had. Year eleven are primed to succeed, if we work hard, focusing on what we know we need to do. We need to be patient with them, as they face a new challenge, with a tumult of exams at the end of the year. We need to be patient with each other, and work together - there will be changes this year (more to follow on Monday, but don't worry, it's all good) which we can use to our advantage, to kick onto the next level. We are now within touching distance of national average. We can smash through this and maintain this, if we work as we have done previously - honestly, openly and with trust.
Each year group needs close attention; our pupils deserve the very best from this and we have to make sure that we give them exactly that. Permanent revolution will help us to do this - always look for ways to improve. Hopefully, this year will see, at last, us dropping into lessons, a greater spread of the drop in load, allowing the sharing of our excellent work to be made more effective. Last term, you sent ideas for meetings through to me - this year, I want to see you coming to me and suggesting what we will explore in meetings, what we need to do. This is your department, and you have proven, through hard work, inspections, observations and results, that you know what you're doing. The time for dictatorship is over. Full communism or anarcho-syndicalism. It's your choice. Kind of. Regardless, it's time to fully take control of our future.
It's a new dawn, it's a new day... seize it.
